New Kindergarten Students

• NEW STUDENT TO WCPS: Please follow the steps below to enroll. Children must be 5 years old by September 1 in order to enroll in kindergarten.

  Every child who is 5 years old by September 1 must be enrolled in a kindergarten program this fall or have an approved waiver.
   
• CURRENT WCPS STUDENT: If you attended Pre-K in Washington County, you must still enroll in Kindergarten, but you may not need to complete all the paperwork.  Please talk with the clerical staff at your child's school to inquire about the needed information
   

Early Entry into Kindergarten

• The early admission process is designed for students who are born between September 2 – October 15 and are seeking enrollment to school one year early due to your child showing advanced skills. Please see Early Admission into Kindergarten for more info. 

Parents must live in the attendance area of the school where they plan to enroll their student. Use our School Locator tool to find and verify your school and attendance area. 

Having all your documentation prepared in advance of registration will keep the process moving quickly. When you have gathered all the documents below, please call the school your child will attend to make an appointment to enroll. 

• A photo ID of parent/legal guardian enrolling student

• Child's birth certificate

• Immunization records 

• Health inventory

• Blood Lead Testing

• Proof of Residency (current w/in 90 days)

• Custody Documents (if applicable)
