Welcome Back from SECAC!

Dear WCPS Families,

Welcome to a new school year!

Whether your child is receiving special education services for the first time or you have been on this journey for years, the Washington County Public Schools Special Education Citizens Advisory Committee (SECAC) welcomes you.

SECAC is a partnership of families, educators, community members, and Washington County Public Schools. Our mission is to advocate, educate, and collaborate to improve outcomes for students receiving special education services while ensuring family voices are heard.

We believe every family brings valuable experiences, ideas, and perspectives. Your voice helps shape meaningful change for students across our school system.

There are many ways to get involved. You are welcome to:

  • Attend our meetings in person or virtually.
  • Join one of our committees.
  • Share your experiences and ideas.
  • Learn about special education resources and opportunities within our community.

Families are invited to participate in committees such as our Medically Complex Committee, Behavioral Supports Committee, Advocacy Committee, Enrich Committee, along with several other committees and volunteer opportunities throughout the school year.

Whether you have time to serve on a committee or simply want to stay informed, there is a place for you in SECAC.
