Washington County Public Schools offers an optional insurance program to cover the costs of accidental damage, loss, or theft of WCPS-issued Chromebooks. The insurance is offered through Securranty and only costs a flat fee of $25.95 per school year. 

WCPS will still handle all repairs and replacement processes. Securranty simply covers the cost.

BENEFITS OF INSURANCE

• If a Chromebook is damaged or lost and you don’t have insurance, your family may be billed between $25 and $400 per incident, depending on the issue.
   
• If insurance is purchased, there is no deductible and no limit on claims within the coverage year. In other words, you won’t pay any additional costs beyond the $25.95 to enroll. Please note that insurance covers accidental damage only.
   

You can purchase coverage online at securranty.com/wcpsmd. Insurance must be bought before any incident for coverage to apply.

After purchase, you’ll receive a confirmation email with everything you need to know about the policy and how to file a claim if needed.

HOW IT WORKS

• If your student’s Chromebook accidentally breaks, is lost, or stolen, simply notify the school. WCPS staff will handle the repair process and submit a claim with Securranty on your behalf.
   
• A replacement or loaner device will be provided while the claim is processed. Repairs typically take fewer than five business days.
   

This insurance option is designed to offer peace of mind and prevent unexpected costs. Remember – coverage cannot be added later if a device issue arises.
