Public Comment
Community members are required to sign up in advance to speak during the public comment portion of our Business Meetings.
In accordance with Board Policy KD, each speaker may speak for up to four (4) minutes. During public comment, speakers should:
- Introduce themselves
- Identify whether they are speaking as individuals or on behalf of an organization
- May provide a copy of their comments for further consideration by the Board members
- Speakers may address any topic concerning Washington County Public Schools, except personnel or student matters that clearly identify an individual or individuals
Each person wishing to address the Board of Education at a business meeting is required to sign up to speak prior to the meeting by contacting the Secretary to the Board of Education by calling 301-766-2971 or emailing publicfeedback@wcps.k12.md.us no later than 4:00 p.m. on the Monday before a business meeting or prior to the start of public comment. Individuals signing up by phone should leave your name and a callback phone number.
Individuals will be requested to provide the topic on which they will be addressing the Board. Individuals who do not sign up in advance of the meeting will be required to sign the log located at the back of the auditorium prior to public comment for the purpose of the meeting minutes. Individuals will speak in the order in which they are signed up.
